Die Herren von Outremer - ins Deutsche übersetzt von Helmut W. Pesch - enthält zwei historische Erzählungen aus der Feder von Robert E. Howard: Falken von Outremer (Hawks Of Outremer), erstmals im Frühjahr 1931 in Oriental Stories veröffentlicht, und Belsazars Blut (The Blood Of Belshazzar), erstmals im Herbst 1931 in demselben Magazin erschienen. Beide Geschichten spielen vor dem Hintergrund des Dritten Kreuzzugs (1189 bis 1192): Die Hauptfigur ist Cormac FitzGeoffrey, eine fiktive Gestalt, die von Robert E. Howard geschaffen wurde; er ist ein Halb-Normanne, Halb-Gäle. Howard schrieb die zweiin diesem Band enthaltenen Erzählungen über Cormac FitzGeoffrey sowie ein Fragment (The Slave-Princess), welches im Jahr 1979 von Richard L. Tierney vollendet wurde. Obwohl Howard vor allem für seine Fantasy-Werke bekannt ist - und insbesondere für Conan, den Barbaren - , haben die Cormac-FitzGeoffrey-Geschichten einen rein historischen Hintergrund, wenn auch einen mit einem überaus heroischen Thema.
